Uma Thurman was sexually assaulted at age 16
In an article published by The New York Times, a publication exposing Weinstein's abuse, Uma Thurman detailed some of the traumatic events. First, she says that at age 16, early in her career, she was sexually assaulted by an unnamed actor.
“I tried to say no, I cried, I did everything I could. He told me that the door was locked, but I didn’t run to open it. When I came home, I remember sitting in front of the mirror and looking at my hands. I was so nervous that they weren’t bloodied or scratched,” said the actress.
She was abused by producer Harvey Weinstein.
She then spoke out about abuse at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, whom she met in 1994 as a producer for Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. She detailed some of the times the producer assaulted her and tried to force her to have sex.
“In the beginning, we spent hours discussing film projects we were working on together. He complimented my intelligence to appreciate me. Perhaps it was these things that made me ignore the warning signs,” the actress said, adding that the first unwanted advances took place in a hotel in Paris.
What Uma Thurman said
“They passed me by. I didn't feel threatened. At one point during filming, he asked me to follow him. He took me to the sauna. I was wearing a leather suit. I told him it was funny and asked what he was doing. He got scared and left immediately,” Thurman added.
“It was like I had a bat in my head. He hit me and tried to get on top of me. He tried to take off his pants. It was all kinds of nasty things. But he didn't actually use his full power because he could prove it to me. At such moments you are like a struggling animal, like a lizard. “I did everything in my power to get out of this situation,” said Uma Thurman.
Forced to do things that put her life in danger
On the other hand, Uma Thurman spoke about some unpleasant incidents with Tarantino. During the filming of Kill Bill in Mexico, the actress claims that an episode occurred that stunned her. After nine months of filming, Tarantino asked her a question that, in the actress’s opinion, went beyond what was permitted. The director forced her to perform one of the most difficult stunts herself - the famous scene where she drives a blue convertible at high speed to kill Bill.
