How many times a week should you have sex?

Couples shouldn't be lazy with their sex lives, relationship experts say, DailyMail writes.

Relationship expert Jake Maddock tells DailyMail how often couples should have sex, according to scientific research. His recommendation was that any couple should have sex at least two to three times a week for mental and physical health.

But there are other experts who say there's no magic number when it comes to sex.

Jake Maddock, relationship expert, said:

“There is a lot of scientific evidence behind this statement. Research has proven that it is very beneficial for women to experience orgasm three times a week. It's good for their mental health, it's good for their physical health, it's good for their body,” Jake Maddock said.

Partners may have different perceptions of the ideal amount of sexual activity.

He further explained that sex three times a week is good for male hormonal regulation, mental and physical health. He also noted that over time, couples become "lazy" and don't have sex as often.

“People in long-term relationships seem to get lazy, and if they have sex once a week, they tend to think it's okay, then once a month, and they get lazier as they go, but sex three times a week keeps people are on the right path."

A study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that married people have sex 51 times a year, or about once a week.

But others argue that there is no "magic number" when it comes to how many times you have sex.

Family therapist and sex therapist Isaiah McKimmie told House of Wellness that the number varies and depends on life and circumstances.

"There's no one number that makes a relationship strong, and it's normal for two partners to have different ideas about how much sex they want," Isaiah said.

“It is important that a couple strive to find sexual pleasure that suits both of them.”
