Zenith Manufacture once again pushes the boundaries of what's possible, presenting two exclusive limited editions in its avant-garde Defy collection. Each new watch, limited to just 100 pieces, is a bold statement, where high-tech mechanics meets vibrant art. The key highlight is the movement bridges, which feature a vibrant PVD coating.

Since its inception back in 1969, the Defy line has been a true creative laboratory for Zenith. It's a testing ground where engineers refine cutting-edge design solutions and designers boldly experiment with form and color. The new watch Defy Extreme Chroma continue this glorious tradition, building on the success of their striking 2022 and 2023 models. They are living proof that ultra-precise mechanics can and should be expressive.

The watch boasts impressive yet sophisticated dimensions. The case diameter is 45 mm, and the distance between the lugs is 51 mm. Zenith offers two versions, playing on the contrasting materials:

• The first version combines lightweight microblasted titanium with deep black ceramic elements on the bezel, crown, and pusher guards, creating a clean and technologically advanced look.
• The second model combines matte and polished titanium with dazzling white ceramic parts, giving the watch a fresher, more futuristic look.

Despite its substantial thickness of 15.4mm, the use of titanium makes this massive watch surprisingly comfortable on the wrist, perfectly balancing its weight.

Mechanism: Rainbow in the Heart of El Primero

While the watch's exterior impresses with its aggressive geometry, the true magic lies within. The skeletonized sapphire crystal dial offers a full view of the legendary caliber. El Primero 9004This is where Zenith's designers let their imagination run wild. The movement's bridges are treated with a PVD coating, creating a smooth gradient of a whole spectrum of colors. This mechanical rainbow shines through the complex architecture of the dial, bringing it to life.

This color extravaganza isn't limited to the bridges. The gradient theme continues on the hour markers and even the tips of the subdials' hands, creating a cohesive and harmonious look.

Even the winding rotor, visible through the case back, supports this concept: it is painted blue for the black version and green for the white one.

But behind the striking exterior lies a remarkable engineering feat. The caliber is powered by two independent escapements. One, operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, ensures precise timekeeping. The second is a true speed monster. It oscillates at a breakneck 360,000 vibrations per hour and powers the chronograph with an accuracy of 1/100th of a second. This allows the central chronograph hand to complete a full rotation around the dial every second. Impressive! And a 50-hour power reserve ensures the watch won't stop running, even if you take it off for a couple of days.

The case is water-resistant to 20 atmospheres (200 meters) and features a screw-down crown for maximum reliability. Understanding that owners will want to adapt the watch to different situations, the brand includes three straps with each model. Thanks to the brand's quick-change system, you can switch between a rubber strap that matches the case, a robust titanium bracelet, and a practical black Velcro strap without tools.
