Over Christmas, Michael Bolton underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. The 70-year-old artist said he is now recovering at home and has canceled planned concerts. On Friday, January 5, 2024, the singer updated fans about his health through a Facebook post.
“I want to start by wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year! I also want to share with you that 2023 presented me with very unexpected challenges. Just before the holidays, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor that required immediate surgery.
Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the amazing love and support of my family.

Over the coming weeks I will be devoting my time and energy to recovery, which means I will have to take a temporary break from touring. Disappointing fans or delaying performances is always the hardest thing for me to do, but I have no doubt that if I work hard to speed up my recovery, I will be back performing soon. I am grateful for the love and support you have so generously given me over the years.

Michael Bolton, 70, was scheduled to perform Feb. 1 at the Murray Theater at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Florida, playing six shows this month and then three more in March and April. He was one of the most successful artists of the 1990s, with four albums among the most popular albums of the time and seven tracks among the top ten most streamed songs. A multiple Grammy Award winner, Bolton achieved enormous fame with his pop ballads such as "How Should I Live Without You" and "When a Man Loves a Woman."
