Diaz and Madden's post is accompanied by a photo of a child's drawing that reads, "The cat whispered to me."

“We are happy and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden. It's wonderful and we're all happy to be here. For the safety and security of children, we will not post any images. But he's very cute. We are grateful and happy,” the actress wrote, without providing details.

In 2020, Diaz and Madden also announced the birth of their daughter Raddix on Instagram. And then they said they didn't plan to share any more photos or details to protect their family's privacy.

The actress told CBS News in 2022 that she took a break from acting to focus on other projects, but mainly to enjoy being a mother to her two-year-old daughter.

She said motherhood has "definitely changed her" and she loves seeing her daughter.

“All mothers have that moment when you look at your child, see him do something for the first time, and think: “I remember doing that!” It’s really cool,” Diaz said.

The press suggests that he turned to a surrogate mother

Diaz, 51, and Madden, 45, welcomed their first child, a girl named Raddix, in 2019 via a surrogate, apparently after years of fertility treatment, The Daily Beast reported.

The Charlie's Angels star said she was very happy to play the role of a mother.

“I love being a mother. This is the best, best, best part of my life,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2020.

“I’m so grateful and I’m so happy and it’s the best thing in the world and I’m so lucky.”

"I wouldn't be the mother I am today if I had decided to do this at any other time in my life," she told Sirius XM.

Most likely, Diaz and her husband became parents for the second time with the help of a surrogate mother.
