In July 2023, representatives for the two ex-husbands publicly announced their separation to Page Six. On Monday, January 15, Sophie Vergara spoke about the breakup during an interview with Spanish publication El Pais.
Lack of children, reason for separation
After deciding to divorce, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello publicly stated that they wanted to remain discreet and asked people to let them get through the episode in peace.
“We made the difficult decision to get a divorce,” Vergara and Manganiello shared about our lives.”
Over time, rumors circulated that the misunderstanding between them was related to an important topic: children.
More precisely, the actress did not want to become a mother again, and her ex-partner wanted children.
“I recently divorced my second husband, with whom I lived for 10 years. My marriage ended because my husband was younger; he wanted to have children and I didn’t want to be an old mother,” Vergara told a previously quoted source.
Sofia Vergara has a child from another marriage
When she was just 19 years old, Sofia Vergara became the mother of a boy who is now a grown man of 32 years old. The actress believes that her “time” to become a mother again has passed, especially since she is waiting to become a grandmother.
I feel like it’s unfair to the child,” she added. “I respect anyone who does it, but it’s not for me anymore. At the age of 19, I became the mother of a boy who is now 32 years old, and I am ready for the fact that I am a grandmother, not a mother,” the actress added.
“I’m almost menopausal; it’s the natural course of life,” she added. “When my son becomes a father, I will wait for a while until he brings me a child, then I will return him and move on with my life; this is what I will have to do,” the actress added.
