How to properly care for a natural Christmas tree so that it lasts as long as possible

If you decide to decorate a natural tree this year, you probably want it to last as long as possible. That's why we tell you what to do about it - how often to water, what kind of water and where not to put it.

Decorating the Christmas tree is associated with the holiday of Christmas, and in Christianity it symbolizes the ever-living Jesus Christ. This tradition is also associated with well-being and good luck in the home, as well as fertility.

This tradition is indispensable in homes and therefore everyone wants to impress with the design of this special tree. Some people choose an artificial tree, while others prefer natural ones, in pots, with an alluring smell. The latter lasts no more than two weeks and requires special care, especially if you want it to look the same as the day you bought it. Here's what you should pay attention to if you have chosen such a tree!

How to choose the right one?

When purchasing a spruce, you should make sure that it has been recently cut down. Choose a tree with bright green needles that are slightly sticky to the touch. Once you have chosen, shake the tree slightly, and if not many needles fall, then you have chosen the right one. Don't forget to buy a suitable support for his torso too! If the support is too small, you will need to cut down part of the trunk to position the tree perfectly.

Requires daily watering with warm water.

Of course, the tree will need water. In general, it is good to water the tree once a day, but the tree may need to be watered twice a day for the first week. It is best to wet the wood with warm water, as it absorbs faster than cold water. It is equally important to spray water on the top of your head.

Common mistakes that can cause a tree to dry out

Among the most common mistakes that lead to damage to wood are:

  1. Placing the wood near a heat source (such as a fireplace or radiator) will dry out the wood. Also, the same thing can happen if the room is too hot (more than 20 degrees);
  2. Placing the tree near a strong source of sun can also dry it out prematurely;
  3. Overloading the Christmas tree with decorations puts a lot of stress on the branches. Also, an old electrical installation may generate too much heat, which can damage it.
