Effective solutions for spotless, dirt-free windows

Your home's windows will be shiny and easier to clean if you keep these tips in mind. You just need a few products and a little patience and the dirt will disappear.

Cleaning windows is as much about aesthetics as it is about preventing bacteria and mold that can affect the air quality in your home. Before cleaning your windows, it is good to make sure that the window frames are in good condition. To clean them, use a small vacuum cleaner, a clean toothbrush, or a small soft brush.

If rust has formed around the windows, wipe the marks with a special mixture consisting of:

  • 2/3 cup household laundry detergent;
  • Bleach;
  • 1 liter of water.

Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and gently scrub away any traces of rust with a brush. If you encounter mold stains, according to Retrofit, mix and apply:

  • 2/3 cup washing powder;
  • 1/3 cup liquid detergent;
  • Bleach;
  • 1 liter of water.

Additionally, Pelican Replacement Windows recommends using a mixture of 30% vinegar and 70% water to remove traces of mold. You spray the mixture onto the stain, let it sit for 15 minutes, then scrub with a toothbrush. Finally, wipe with a clean, damp sponge.

Important! Never mix vinegar and bleach!

How to effectively clean windows without commercial solutions

To clean windows in your home, mama24 recommends using baking soda and white vinegar. Also, if the smell is too strong, add some lemon juice.

All you need to do is mix 1 cup of water, 1 packet of baking soda with 1 cup of vinegar and spray the mixture onto the stain. Finally, wipe well with a kitchen towel or damp cloth.

Another solution for cleaning windows is to mix 2 cups of water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of dish soap. The mixture can be sprayed onto frames, glass and windows.

Good to know: According to All American Window and Door, distilled water may work better than hard tap water.
