These are the foods that stain your teeth the most!

Anything that stains clothes stains your teeth, says Dr. Michaela Bilic in one of her posts. A specialist reminds you which foods stain your teeth the most!

1. Coffee and black tea directly affect the color of your teeth. The tannins in their composition easily penetrate tooth enamel, which is porous. Solution? Add milk to tea and coffee, tannins will be neutralized, and the minerals and fats in milk will protect your teeth.

2. Tomato sauce has an acidic pH that causes enamel erosion and the red-orange pigments cause yellowing of teeth. To reduce this effect, add vegetables containing a lot of chlorophyll (spinach, broccoli, parsley) to tomato seasonings and sauces.

3. Beets contain a strong pigment, betalain, which is used as a dye in the food, textile and cosmetics industries. Although it has health benefits, consuming beets in excess, especially in juice form, can lead to yellowing of teeth.

4. When it comes to fruits, there are certainly many culprits. For example, healthy blueberries, blackberries and black grapes are full of antioxidants, but they stain tooth enamel. And red wine, rich in resveratrol, has the same effect.

A balanced diet should contain intensely colored fruits and vegetables; their phytonutrients reduce the risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. As long as we rinse our mouths well with water after eating, explains Dr. Bilic.

What products have the opposite effect?

There are also products that can whiten teeth! Apples act as a mechanical brush that deeply cleanses the teeth and restores their natural color. Celery and cauliflower performs the same cleaning role and removes yellow stains from teeth. What about strawberries? In addition to the aphrodisiac effect, it is quite effective for whitening teeth. Blend the strawberries in a blender and enjoy this natural remedy for beautiful teeth at your leisure.
