Where do you store flour if not apples? We'll tell you what's best!

The best way to avoid food spoilage is to store it properly. Where do you put tomatoes if not in walnuts or apples when you get home from the store? We tell you how good it is!

We may be tempted to store all our food in the refrigerator as soon as we come from the market. Well, not all fruits and vegetables store well this way. By the way, tomatoes have nothing to do with it. They contain an enzyme that is activated at low temperatures and spoils the appearance of the tomato, says the Red Book. It is better to buy ripe tomatoes at the market and leave them in a basket on the kitchen counter.

apples

Because apples contain ethylene (a gas that speeds up the ripening process), it is not recommended to place them in a basket with other fruits, as they may be damaged. It is advisable to leave them on the counter for 1-3 days separately from other food items or store them in the refrigerator in the crisper drawer.

Onion

Onions are sensitive to moisture and light, which means the refrigerator is not the best place to store them as they will spoil faster. It's better to put it in a closet or pantry.

NUTS

If nuts are not stored properly, their oil will go rancid and they may spoil. Most nuts will keep in the cupboard for about two weeks, but you can enjoy them longer if you place them in an airtight container and then place them in the refrigerator or freezer.

Potato

Where do you store potatoes? They cannot be stored at temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, because cold temperatures convert the starch they contain into sugar, that is, change their taste and color. It is better to put them in a box, in a cool room or pantry. If you decide to store them in a bag, be sure to make several holes in it for air circulation.

Whole wheat flour

Unlike white flour, whole wheat flour spoils faster. Therefore, store it in an airtight container in the freezer and you can enjoy it for several months. If you don't have freezer space, you can also store it in the refrigerator.
