Dermatologist tips for great skin this fall

When the transition from summer to autumn requires reorganization in the dressing room, and the skin is not protected from the cold only by thick clothing, explains Dr. Ana Grigorescu, specialist dermatologist, it needs special care.

From the face to the body, every inch of skin needs special care during the transition from summer to cold season. So that the skin does not lose its shine, dermatologists recommend that people with dry skin use a cream with a strong moisturizing effect, and those with mixed skin can still use creams with a lighter texture. “Creams containing ceramides, a healthy fatty acid, provide optimal levels of hydration, and hyaluronic acid-based products can be allies during this period,” explains Dr. Ana Grigorescu, specialist dermatologist.

Also during this period, deeper hydration can be carried out using intradermal injections of hyaluronic acid, which has a number of benefits for the skin, the specialist adds. The effect thus obtained can be maximized by exfoliating the skin. “The cold season is the best time to get rid of dead skin cells.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive dermatocosmetic procedure that aims to exfoliate the surface layer to achieve rejuvenation and cleansing of the skin. The effect is noticeable immediately after the procedure: the skin becomes smoother, clearer, and blackheads and enlarged pores are reduced, depending on the patient’s skin type,” says Dr. Ana Grigorescu, specialist dermatologist.

According to the dermatologist, another procedure successfully used in the fall and winter is chemical peeling, which has many benefits for the skin: reducing fine lines, enlarging pores, brightening the skin, removing blackheads and regulating sebum secretion. .

“Other treatments that can be performed when the skin is not exposed to the sun are laser treatments such as CO2 and ResurFx, or microneedling, with the effect of correcting skin imperfections and reducing fine lines,” explains the specialist. Since the secret to success is balance, the doctor recommends performing these procedures in a dermatologist's office. Otherwise, the skin may suffer, hyperpigmentation, severe inflammation, severe flaking and irritant or allergic contact dermatitis.

Lip balm, yes! Body butter, no!

And for complete care, the routine of autumn days should not lack lip balm and eye creams, and as air humidity decreases, so that the skin does not become irritated and dry out, the doctor also recommends using lotions for the entire body.

“The lip balm, which contains natural wax, jojoba, shea and almond extracts, vitamins A, E and UV filters, acts as a moisturizer, prevents drying, flaking or cracking and protects against premature aging.

Body products during this period should also be moisturizing, and depending on preference, there are products with a lighter or oilier texture. However, one thing is certain: oils are not recommended, because they only “inflate” dead cells, creating a false feeling of hydration,” notes the dermatologist.
