Spring asthenia: what foods to eat at this time and what to avoid

Spring asthenia can manifest itself as states of weakness throughout the body, increased fatigue and depressive episodes. Fortunately, this problem is temporary, and proper nutrition helps us overcome it.

If during this period you feel tired, sad and anxious, there is no need to sound the alarm! This is normal and temporary. Conditions characteristic of spring asthenia last for several days and do not require treatment. However, to overcome them much easier, it is important to pay attention to your diet.

How to overcome spring asthenia

First of all, the diet you follow should be rich in vitamins and minerals. So, add to your cart: lots of vegetables, legumes and animal products (chicken, fish, eggs). Keep in mind that certain foods stimulate serotonin production and indirectly improve well-being, including whole grains (lentils, beans, quinoa), fatty fish (sardines, salmon, mackerel), olive oil, fresh cheese and sunflower seeds. Especially during this period, it is important to drink at least 2 liters of water per day and teas that relax and help relieve stress, such as chamomile tea, linden tea, passionflower tea, mint and bluebell tea. For the functioning of the nervous system, it is also recommended: green tea (in limited quantities), ginger tea and maca tea. No matter how short you are, don’t forget about physical activity! 30 minutes of exercise a day will help you feel better and sleep better.

What foods should you avoid?

If you want to avoid the unpleasant symptoms of spring asthenia, you should avoid or drink less coffee or caffeinated drinks such as energy drinks. Also, alcoholic drinks affect physical condition and mental health, and foods containing sugar, unhealthy fats and white flour cause loss of energy and, moreover, contribute to the appearance of extra pounds.
