Study: Horror movies help you lose weight. That's how many calories you burn watching The Exorcist!

Do you want to lose extra pounds, but don't like to go on a strict diet? We bring you good news! According to researchers, watching horror movies can burn a lot of calories.

If you set out to lose weight, but gave in to temptation and just ate a chocolate bar, turn on the TV! Researchers from the University of Westminster in London found that there is a link between watching horror films and burning calories. Here's how the experts explain it!

A study found that a 90-minute horror movie can burn about 113 calories, the same number of calories that a 30-minute walk can burn. Researchers have found that horror movies increase your heart rate and thus burn calories:

“As your heart rate increases and blood circulates faster through your body, your body experiences a rush of adrenaline. This surge of adrenaline, released during brief moments of stress, minimizes appetite and increases basal metabolic rate, leading to greater calorie loss,” said Richard McKenzie, one of the authors of the study cited by CNET.

Horror Movies That Burn the Most Calories

The subjects in the above study burned about 113 calories, but there are some movies that quickly raise your heart rate and may help you lose more. For example, "Shine" - 183 calories, "Jaws" - 161 calories and "The Exorcist - 158 calories.. But if these movies are too scary for you, you can choose films like: Paranormal Activity - 111 calories, The Blair Witch Project - 105 calories, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 107 calories.

Finally, keep in mind that this study was based on the number of calories you can burn. So, if you want to lose those extra pounds, we advise you not to associate watching movies with sugary snacks, popcorn and soda.
